Wildwood was a blast this summer. As we planned our trip down the Jersey shore to TROG, we were lucky enough to have a great group of friends rally to pull-off an impromptu photo shoot for the new TSY women’s collection. Busy schedules and hangovers aside, this group gathered wearing smiles and bearing hugs at an ungodly hour. Thank you to these badass beauties: Nadine Anderson, Jessica Paviluk, Jocelyn Cohen, Natalie Finch. Thank you dudes behind the camera: Allan Glanfield assisted by Ryan Handt. Special thanks to the great folks at the Pink Cadillac Diner, and tattoo artist Electric Sheena for designing our new women’s TSY T-shirts. Art direction and styling by Ashley Smalley.
The Selvedge Yard is proud to announce a partnership with our New Zealand friends Triumph & Disaster. T&D is known for their top-notch grooming goods, and we’ve recently had the pleasure of getting to know the founder Dion Nash and some of his team. Turns out we have a lot in common– we love a great party, and getting off the grid… So we’ve decided to throw a “Greaser Getdown” party together at our shop in New Hope, PA on July 30th. And get this– the attendee wearing the best “Greaser Getup” (think pomade pompadour, leather, denim, etc… 1950s greaser / teddy style) will win a trip for two that they’ll never forget! Bonus points awarded if you happen to also roll-in on a badass bike or Hot Rod! Space is limited for the party so you must RSVP your name and email to attend and have a chance to win to: firstname.lastname@example.org
TSY recently sat down with Triumph & Disaster founder, Dion Nash, to chat about all things T&D, and announce “THE GREASER GET DOWN” party and trip giveaway happening at The Selvedge Yard shop in New Hope, PA…
We are stoked and honored that the fine folks at Free People profiled The Selvedge Yard shop in New Hope, PA a few weeks ago. It was a blast working with the creative crew as they highlighted their FP Vintage Loves. Ali, their vintage buyer, has a great eye- and Carrie Yotter is such a gracious soul and wonderful Free People ambassador. Thank you to David & Ginger at America Designs for being our friends and vintage & interior collaborators. Thank you Michael Persico for the amazing photography, and the entire Free People team for making it an awesome day. Click thru to check out his shots…
I’ve heard from a lot of people for a very long time, saying that they just want a clean TSY T-shirt that says THE SELVEDGE YARD and not F*CK or TRAMP all over it… So here is our new TSY logo T. All men’s T-shirts are printed on American Apparel MADE IN USA 100% cotton T’s.

Denim Dudes is a cool new book by Amy Leverton that profiles many of the top designers and innovators in the denim world. The photography is stunning, shot around the globe, as it tracks down denim gurus in the US, UK, Europe, Japan, and Australia. There are definitely some friendly, familiar faces. Like Donwan Harrell of PRPS, King of Japanese denim, and the first to bring it to the US years ago. Dude is world renowned as a leading authority on denim and washes. I was blown away that Donwan chose to wear the Blackbird jean made from 14oz raw Japanese denim that we collaborated on for The Selvedge Yard a few years back. It was truly humbling to crack the cover and see Donwan Harrell proudly wearing our jean. Damn. Thank you.
The new Limited Edition TSY x Jen Mussari T-shirt collaboration paying homage to Bill Ray’s iconic, unpublished 1965 LIFE photo essay. It’s meant to convey the spirit of brotherhood & unity among riders with our positive spin on FTW = “Fare Thee Well” – as it’s about how riding frees you body and soul, and wishing good tidings to all! So whether you’re a Choppahead, cafe fan, on a CB350, super-bike, Sportster, or whatever– just do your thing with a smile on your face.

I will always remember the day I met Mike & Dave Stampler at the Norman Porter studio in Philadelphia and they walked me through painstaking process of how they make their jeans. Sweating every detail, the immaculate sewing, reinforcing, bar-tacking, hand-hammering rivets, and the chunkiest (10 oz indigo chambray), cleanest pocket bags this side of anywhere. I’ve been in menswear for a long-ass time, so I’ve been to the rodeo before… I said, “So, you know you guys are totally over-engineering this thing, right?” Mike just stares at me and says, “Yes.” Me, “I fucking love it.” This is how you make a jean. Like a boss. #sorrynotsorry
No detail was overlooked, no corners cut. This collaboration is one that I’m stoked and honored to be a part of. Some of Philly’s best artists stepped up to add their mastery, driven to do something cool just out of kindness. Mike Ski of True Hand Society Tattoos & Design in Fishtown drew and tattooed each leather patch by hand. He nailed the marriage of the TSY lightning bolt logo with Norman Porter’s snake, in my opinion. Jessie Jay (also of THS) jumped in to design the pocket bags for us that Pink Bike Ralph printed. It’s pretty cool how everyone was so humble and just came together to quietly celebrate the spirit and camaraderie of Philly design, craft & quality. It was an awesome thing to see everyone come together…for a jean. We are only making 13 pairs of these beauties… And when they’re gone, they are gone.
The Selvedge Yard’s ‘Tramp’ Triumph, custom built by Kevin Dunworth — photo by Scott Toepfer
Here’s a quick shot of the ‘Tramp’ — the TSY collaboration with Kevin Dunworth of Loaded Gun Customs. If you were in Brooklyn Saturday night for the Iron & Air Issue Nine Release Party, then you saw it unveiled for the first time. To see more photos, read the story behind the build, and get the full specs on the Tramp– pick up Issue Nine of Iron & Air magazine.
So, I don’t know if you’ve heard– there’s a party coming to BROOKLYN. Iron & Air is throwing down for the release of Issue Nine at Fast Ashleys Studios— and you’re not gonna want to miss it. I might be slightly biased, but I ‘m pretty stoked that the bike built for me by Kevin Dunworth of Loaded Gun Customs will be unveiled that night, and will also be featured in Iron & Air magazine. There will be lots of local Brooklyn eats ‘n’ drinks– The Shop Brooklyn will be dishing out their special slow-cooked brand of goodness. And their will be plenty of badass bikes to ogle, and some cool art going on.

You gotta love social media– not always, but this particular time, HELLS YES. So, I see on Stacie’s triplenickel555 Instagram account that there’s a pic re-gram’d of some sort of bike tattoo. I look a little closer, and– hey, I recognize that image! So here’s the deal– this cool gal Matylda in Sweden saw the pic on TSY and was inspired enough to get it inked on her inner arm..OUCH for any of you who know about tattoos. God bless the internets. I reached out to Matylda, and she was kind enough to send pics of the finished work– read on and check it out.

Hello from the land of the ice and snow! Hope these pics are usable — it’s winter now and we don’t have any decent light to shoot in (not exactly 30 Days of Night, but you know…). Btw, the website is awesome, and I’ve been a big fan.
