It was a mighty fine trip, that’s about as plain and simple as I can put it. Venice– a beautiful place, but they sure gouge you every chance they get, which gets old quick. What can you say, it’s a tourist trap. Then a wonderful visit to the Monti mill, dinner with Bruno and his fine, gracious people. Scouring the shops and alleyways for more Italian influence. Later– Milano Unica. Great fabric and fashion inspiration, running into a couple familiar faces, making many new & fruitful connections.
Most of all, it’s nice to be home. Home with the family I haven’t seen enough of this summer. It makes you appreciate those you love, and want to treat them extra well.

that’s a nice thing to say. family IS magical. 🙂
so– JP, what the heck are you shooting with? tell me that is a phone?
the colors and sort of weird shadows and halo-d vibe rock it. maybe you should become a secret cell phone photo journalist who travels the earth in search of ancient and/or antique and/or retro textiles repositories, while snapping trippy photos of the world at large. obviously not ladies bums in giant print pants with large elastic belts…but other things…surely. strange sapphire waters and pop-up cathedrals and colorful pensiones seemingly tweaked to one side.
late night sillies have me in a big way at the moment.
no seriously…is it your phone?

OK, so it’s an iPhone with a top secret app. Takes amazing pics, but you have to play around with it to get it down.
Fun stuff, though.
Best,
JP
it’s the golden ticket of phone camera apps then and you are most certainly rocking it!
you get more points for that, you know.

Tilt Shift Generator, I presume? It’s made me want to carry nothing but my iPhone on trips.
Bess, I came to ask the exact same question only, not nearly as beautifully as you have. It’s enough to make me change my name to something 19th Century-ish, and head out the door on some Raiders of the Lost Rug type arrangement.
I love the cathedral shot and came to ask about it. Was that an effect? An accident? Was it really a pop-up cathedral? Very, very nice!
Man, I am SO envious right now!
And photos like yours and those on “A Time To Get” are really making me want to get an iPhone! Seriously; I’m just about there!
It seems as though you forgot (or simply neglected) to take photos of FOOD! I would love to have seen what you ate over there, bro.
Whatever that iPhone app is it makes your vacation look like it took place 45 years ago.
I almost want an app that does that for my whole life.
