The twins put on a show that looked like ‘old world’ tailored formalwear meets Rock ‘n’ Roll rebel. The looks were very strong, when they stayed on message.
The ruggedly handsome leather & shearling outerwear was stunning, but left you wondering if the story really was ‘Estaire does denim’ or ‘tough country squire’?
The layered looks are great, and take a page straight out of Ralph Lauren’s book. If anything at all, Ralph is the true master at consistency of message and focus. Dean & Dan Caten should have taken that page too.
There’s an obvious nod to Belstaff through the outerwear. Piece-by-piece, the collection is solid. Again– only knock is a lack of originality and focus.
As I started looking through these photos, I was thinking, “where have I seen these before…uh RALPH”. Then I came to your line that said, “The layered looks are great, and take a page straight out of Ralph Lauren’s book. If anything at all, Ralph is the true master at consistency of message and focus.” AGREED!! The looks are good, but not the best for what it is. Blue Label, Purple Label, Black Label, RRL or even Rugby (1st photo), DSquared will get there, someday.
D2 has always been about rock ‘n’ roll rebellion. They are top-notch, and have great taste. I was checking in for a flight at EWR not long ago and ran into them– great guys.
