It’s no coincidence or surprise at all, that the previous post on Mad Men got me thinking about Thom Browne…
There seems to be some activity over at the soon-to-be Black Fleece shop in the West Village. Thom Browne & Brooks Bros. acquired the space some time back, and workers are finally on the scene– painting walls and cleaning up. Let’s hope it opens soon. Thom Browne has given rise to an army of well-dressed men in their shrunken suits & bare ankles- I’m just not sure the look is for everyone. If I were a statuesque guy, I might feel like I was wearing my little brother’s suit. Know your limitations guys.
I’m a fan of Thom Browne. That being said, I agree that this is not for everyman. I know my limitations. The photo above of the man is an example for me of how not to wear it. Unfortunately it appears that the clothes are wearing him and not the other way around. It could just be the top button. Unbutton it and this may be a different conversation.
It’s not for everyone my friend. I don’t want to see from the back either, you know his rear is hanging out there like a … well, let’s just say I ‘get’ the look but prefer a jacket that covers the carriage a bit more.
I love thom browne, he is a genius. This guy does look like an idiot though I will agree with you both there, yes unfortunately, some people in their desire to wear thom browne do not understand that perhaps they should buy a size larger (he makes a full range of sizes, not just his famous sample size) to fully cover their body. That being said, I am tall and young and skinny and I wear Thom Browne to the full extreme all the time. cant wait for the black fleece store!
He can fix this by-
*sizing up, the jacket fits like saran wrap.
*The pant cuff is too thick. It’s thicker than the lapel, which it definitely shouldn’t be.
*The shoe- too clunky and square- make him look like Herman Munster.
